Routine / day in the life ad playbook
The product as part of a real routine – GRWM, morning, workout or bedtime.
- 1
Pick the angle
Say it in your customer's words: [Desired result] without [the thing they hate about the alternatives]
Works best for buyers who are problem-aware, solution-aware, product-aware.
- 2
Open with a hook
- POV & relatable moment – The viewer recognizes their own life in the first second.
- Problem callout – Name the exact pain (and who has it) before anything else.
- Curiosity & pattern break – An odd image or claim that has to be resolved.
- Review, proof & honesty – Lead with evidence, a test or an honest admission.
- Hooks by niche →
- 3
Write the beats
- Problem → Agitate → Solve – Name the problem, make it felt with a specific moment, then the product solves it.
- Before → After – Show life before, the turning point, and the after – same person, same light.
- 3 reasons – Hook, then three concrete reasons, each with one visual proof, then the CTA.
- Founder / origin story – Why it was made, the problem behind it, what makes it different – only with a real founder or clearly as a brand voice.
4 scenes. Keep each spoken line to 15–22 words for an 8-second clip.
Talking to the phone camera like a message to a friend. Contractions, one claim per line, a specific detail instead of an adjective. Scene 1 uses the chosen hook formula. The presenter demonstrates and explains – they never claim a personal history with the product that we can't know is true.

Shoot every scene the same way
Scene promptCharacter: Relatable creator in their twenties, at home, chatty and warm. Each scene: [subject] performs [one action] in [setting]. [shot size + ONE camera move]. [lighting + mood]. [continuity constraint]. Avoid: on-screen text, captions, prices or watermarks, studio commercial gloss, a second product or a changed label, camera moves combined in one shot.
Fill the brackets for each scene – one action and one camera move per shot.
- 5
Check before you post
- Product silhouette, label and colors match the product photos in every scene
- Hands: five fingers, natural grip, nothing fused with the product
- Same person, outfit and setting in every scene (check against the hero still)
- Spoken lines fit the clip length – nobody talks faster than normal
- Captions and offer are added in the timeline, never baked into the video
- End card shows the right offer, CTA and link
- A fictional presenter demonstrates or explains – no invented personal customer stories
- Only claims from the product's claim registry; no cure, guarantee or before/after promises the niche forbids
